The Emotional Roller Coster of High School

School's been busy and a bit of a mix of emotions. Just like high schoolers...those mixtures of emotions come into the classroom and slowly rub off on me.....

Last week, I found myself feeling pessimistic about our future and the kids I teach. Constant complaining, accepting failing grades, and giving up before I've even asked them to do work.....I began thinking to myself "kids these days..." and "our future looks pretty grim." Then, I felt the adrenaline rush of a big fight in my hall that ended in a kid in hand cuffs. Then my first student came back to school just to visit and see how things were going!! Oh my, really? You've stopped by just to say ''Hi"? I couldn't believe it. He was a bit of a problem student last year, I think that is what surprised me the most about his visit! He even apologized for giving me a "hard time" last year! I couldn't believe it. How thoughtful!

This week has been going very well. Not quite as dramatic as last week, but still busy. I took the day off today to catch up on grading and entering grades. It was a nice break to re-energize my spirit!

We're coming to Wisconsin next weekend!! Nick's cousin, Kristin, is getting married around the Richland Center area. I hope we can catch up with family while home, but it will have to be a quick trip.

Well, that is all I've got for updates. I hope all is well for you!! I love and miss my family and friends!!
